Hot Cross Buns

Hot CrossBuns

5 cups of flour
2packages of Quick rise instant yeast
1/2 cup sugar
1tsp salt
1tsp cinnamon
1/2tsp nutmeg
1 & 1/4 cups of milk
1/2 cup melted margarine
2rm temp egg & 1 egg yolk(save egg white for icing)
1 cup of rasions(cover w/hot waterand let stand till plump then drain)
Icing:
2 cups of icing sugar & 1 egg white

Procedure
Directions:Measure flour into a separate bowl. Combine 2 cups of the flour,yeast,sugar,salt,spices & raisons in a large mixing bowl & stir well. Add milk to the hot melted margarine(heat till warm to touch). Gradually add to the dry mixtureand beat at low speed Scraping the sides of bowl occasionally, for 2 min until thick and elastic.
With wooden spoon,add just enough flour to make a soft dough that leaves the sides of the bowl. turn onto a lightly floured surface and knead 5 to 10 min until smooth & elastic. Cover. Let rise for 10 min. cut off some to shape into buns on a greased Cookie sheet Cut a cross on top of buns. let Rise 1 hr.
Bake 15 to 20 min
Mix icing while waiting...pour it over the cross grooves on the buns after they are out fo the oven.
Amount Depends on how many you make.
